G&B Environmental HVAC, Ducts, UV light…n

We are getting calls about vent and duct cleaning to protect clients and their staff from Coronavirus. Unfortunately, while cleaner vents and new filters can help create a healthier environment they can’t stop micro-organisms in the Coronavirus. Microscopic allergens and other contaminants travel through the ducts in your HVAC system; they are too small to to filter out.n

How does UV Light work?n

Hospitals use UV light to disinfect equipment. Some are looking at using it to clean whole rooms. But UV light will bu your skin and retina. So the rooms must be empty during the process. We can help with this level of protection if you want it, but for most homes and businesses that is impractical. So we work through the HVAC system.n

Ultraviolet lamps will kill airboe germs and organisms. The UV-C light disrupts their DNA, leaving them unable to perform vital cellular functions and causing them to die. That is essential because the coil stays wet for several months during the year and microorganisms, including mold, typically thrive in a wet environment.n

A UV light unit is installed in the retu air duct and cycles on with the air handler blower.  A complete UV light unit sterilizes moving air itself as it is pushed through the HVAC system. This treats the air that is contaminated by any number of sources. Lea more on hown UV lampsn work.n
